We recently purchased a horse from Curtis at Step Above Stables. Curtis was great to deal with, answered all of our questions and took additional videos at our request. We bought Gus sight unseen as we are 12 hours away, but he is everything Curtis said he was and more. We have never met a kinder gentler horse who loves to be around people. We took him on his first trail ride with us this weekend (after only being with us for a week) and he was wonderful. Calm, cool and collective at a very fair price. We will go back to Curtis next time we are in the market. Thx Curtis and team!

I can't say enough good things about Curtis and A Step Above Stable. I bought my horse site unseen from New York and my boy has been everything he said he would be and then some! My best friend bought her horse through A Step Above a few years ago and had a great experience and got an amazing horse as well. I told Curtis what I was looking for and he found me exactly that. My horse landed off the trailer like a gentleman and has not made a wrong move since, he is such a good horse! Sweet, handsome, smart, bombproof, just an absolute doll to be around and happens to be built like a tank the way I like them.

Curtis, Brandon, and Kim are good people. I have bought several horses before finding them and the experience with this group at Step Above Stables was amazing. Single mom here with a budget. Two daughters who don't share nicely. Curtis worked with me on a time to come visit as we are 5 hours away. "Our horses are guaranteed" is what did it for me. And I know for a fact they honor this as I had ended up swapping the gelding we thought was a good fit for my oldest daughter.

He is well trained, responsive and has a nice, slow lope, which is one of the main things I was looking for! Curtis and his staff were helpful, attentive and they answered all my questions. I live in FL but Curtis assisted me in coordinating and scheduling my first visit / ride, the PPE and with transporting the horse back to FL for me, with ease! I purchased a mare from A step above about a month ago. We had been looking for months with no avail in finding a trained horse. My husband and I drove about 3 hours to get to his barn. We were greeted by Curtis & trainers. Zero pressure rather good conversation with knowledgeable horse people. I had had multiple hip replacements and safety was my top concern. Fast forward a few weeks… The best decision I ever made in purchasing an animal! My mare is perfect! Curtis has messaged me a few times just to check on us! Honestly I couldn't recommend any better place to look for sound, healthy horses!

Earlier this year (2025) we started looking for our first horse. I called Step above and was invited to come see the horses. We loaded up and drove 2hours north. We were met by Curtis and his trainers. The trainers started asking about my experience and more about what we were looking for. I explained we are first time horse owners so we needed a beginner friendly horse with a good temperament. I explained I wanted a partner and a friend.

We bought a horse from Curtis for our daughter. Absolutely the best decision. They were very upfront and honest and so knowledgeable. The prices perfectly reflect what you are getting. Super nice stables, and very informative crew. They have responded to every question in a very quick timeframe. 10 out of a 10! If you want a horse that is bomb proof they are your people!
